JiSung’s “The Apartment Job” Is Out Now on Netflix

The Apartment Job (아파트), starring Ji Sung in his first-ever Netflix series, premiered on July 11, 2026 — and it’s a different kind of role for an actor best known for intense legal and crime dramas. The K-drama became the most-watched cable program of the day with its first episode. According to Nielsen Korea, the premiere episode recorded an average nationwide viewership rating of 4.6%.

The 12 episodes drama airs on JTBC in its Saturday-Sunday slot, the same slot recently vacated by the hit drama Reborn Rookie—and will release episodes on Netflix internationally the same day.

What is it about

The Apartment Job follows Park Hae Gang (Ji Sung), a former boss of the Oasis gang who suddenly needs a massive sum of money to help a father figure from his past. He decides to run for president of his apartment complex’s residents’ association, purely to get his hands on the building’s hidden reserve fund.

To pull it off, he does the only logical thing a former gangster would consider: he hires an entire fake family, recruiting Kang Ha Ri (Ha Yoon Kyung), a woman posing as a lawyer, as his faux wife, alongside a ragtag group of “relatives” who move into the complex with him. What starts as a straightforward scheme quickly spirals as Hae Gang settles into his new fake domestic life, fends off a sharp-eyed resident busybody, and stumbles onto a much deeper case of local corruption than he bargained for.

This is Ji Sung’s first project released as a Netflix original, following a string of well received, more intense roles in dramas like Connection, Doctor John, The Devil Judge, and The Judge Returns. Watching him pivot into thriller-comedy territory is exactly the kind of project that gets longtime fans curious.

The ensemble adds real weight, too. Ha Yoon Kyung is stepping into her first leading drama role after strong supporting turns in a number of successful dramas. Moon So Ri, has described this as her first major comedic role, and Park Byung Eun rounds out a cast built around grounded, character-driven conflict rather than flashy plotting.

What to expect going in

If you enjoy dramas that mix crime comedy elements with community and found family warmth, this might shape up to be a strong fit. The premise leans into everyday relatability — apartment complex politics, resident association drama, and the kind of petty local corruption many viewers will recognize from real life, just with a former gangster thrown into the mix.

Whether you’re a longtime Ji Sung fan curious to see him in lighter territory, or just looking for a fresh weekend K-drama to start, The Apartment Job is available for you to stream now.
